Message I agree, 8500 rpm max for 3.27" stroke, the Piston speed is 4632.5 fpm to be exact. 4905 fpm for 9000 rpm.
As in the earlier post, I plan on building this engine with a single piece forged crankshaft, the best connecting rods currently available, likewise with the rest of the bottom end.
The biggest limiting factor I've seen with the VG30 are the camshaft / head design. Big lift, long duration cams just won't work with this design, so the only other option to increase output, is to increase the RPM redline, and tailor the package completely around that. Camshaft selection, valve springs, oiling system, turbocharger sizing are all to be considered and sized for the complete package to work in harmony together to produce gains in power and reliability.

By increasing the bore to 4", and de-stroking this engine to 2.75, (increasing the CID from 181 to 207 in^3) it appears that the piston speeds, and the port velocities are still in that reasonable range (PS=4583 and port velocities are at 251 mph or 0.34 mach) when this hypothetical engine is spun all the way up to 10,000.

This is going to take more than a few years to plan and more importantly, budget to acquire. but as we run the numbers, it looks at least feasible.
